The beginning of the end

As the nineties drew to a close, playing together and writing new songs became different things. Katy joined us for concerts after Claes left, but the old creative partnership was changing, and our final official show opened the door to a new band.

In 1997 we played Hulen and later Quartfestivalen before flying to London with Twigs. Flying let us make a short trip that driving from Norway could not support. After London, the band was quiet through 1998 while the remaining recorded material was completed.

Claes later signalled that he would leave, and nobody wanted to replace someone who had been present from the beginning. Katy Penny joined in 1999 for concerts, but I no longer felt the same impulse to write. Our final official show was with No Means No at Garage on 30 September 2000; Pez, Katy and I had decided to keep playing in a new project, and the name JEF came up backstage that night. Years later that story got one more page, when we decided to play Hulen again in 2022.
