The story so far

Forty-plus years, one line.

  1. 1981 Os Rock Klubb A kid from Os sees Saturday Cowboys at the local rock club. Everything starts here.
  2. 1990 Punishment Park First rehearsal two days before Christmas. Two years later: sold out in wartime Beograd.
  3. 1995 The label Hate You Records presses 512 cassettes. Renamed October Party Records for two kids born in October.
  4. 2000 JEF Named the same night Punishment Park played their last official show.
  5. 2006 China JEF tours China as punk pioneers from the West. 220,000 free CDs follow them in.
  6. 2016 The vinyl years Attacked by Fish, Punx, Rain and Rats on 500 red vinyl. Then ten compilation volumes in ten colours.
  7. 2025 Rockedrømmen The whole journey in 638 pages and 22 chapters, each with its own video reel.
The label

From a cassette in Os to record stores in Beijing.

October Party Records started in 1995 as Hate You Records, a cassette label built to get Punishment Park heard outside Bergen. It took its present name in 1998, after two kids who were both born in October.

Between 2006 and 2011 the label ran its own operation in Beijing with Kang Mao of SUBS, pressed 22 compilation CDs of Norwegian bands for free distribution through Chinese music magazines, and booked Bergen bands onto club stages from Wuhan to Shanghai.

Since 2016 the label has returned to what it loves most: loud records on coloured vinyl, pressed in small numbers, made to be kept.
