Rockedrømmen Chapter 11

A new record deal and more touring, 1996

An English retelling from Kjell Moberg's manuscript.

A new record deal and another tour took Punishment Park into 1996 with fresh hopes. The Dream Circle releases carried us through the next few years, but I keep coming back to the tour whose planned Polish dates ended at the border.

We signed with Dream Circle Records in May 1996. The label released Blendwerk on CD, including tracks from The Return Of The Shovel Police. Later, we agreed to withdraw it and try a new cover and title. It returned as Party, and I remember the response giving us fresh hope. We also recorded in Høyanger with Bjarte Johansen and Bønna Nesse, including our version of 99 Luftballons.

Back in the 1996 tour story, we were on the road with Tequila Girls again, fitting the dates around the holiday time we could take from our jobs. After Germany we were due in Poland, but a problem with the paperwork for our equipment stopped us at the border. We had to call off the Polish concerts and head home. Punishment Park never returned to the continent after that tour. We still wanted to play, but began thinking about how to do it differently.
