Rockedrømmen Chapter 10

1995: a new year and new possibilities

An English retelling from Kjell Moberg's manuscript.

By 1995 we had a settled band and an album ready to go, but nobody to release it. I started Hate You Records to put Blendwerk out myself, while Punishment Park returned to Germany and began a lasting friendship with Tequila Girls.

We entered 1995 as a settled four-piece after the previous year’s touring. Our attention stayed on Europe, where we were finding listeners. Blendwerk was finished but still waiting for a release, so I started Hate You Records and put out 512 cassette copies in June. Making it happen ourselves mattered more than waiting for someone else to say yes. That small label would later become October Party Records.

For the German tour we borrowed King Kongkubine’s Mercedes 508, with Tronna driving and helping as crew. The van needed plenty of oil, but it got us back on the road. We began in Flensburg, then joined Tequila Girls in Münster on 7 June. They became friends as well as touring partners. By the end of the year, another record offer was on the table, this time from Dream Circle Records.
